Definitely a must-do while wine tasting in the Okanagan. Beautiful building, beautiful views with a very attentive and informative wine tasting. I had a fabulous experience. Will definitely be back. Thanks Susan!!
Great wines and service. The price point is high but the wine is high quality. Once the building is done it will be very impressive.
This place completely blew us away.
From what we had heard and seen about this place (100 point wine! No bottle under $80!), it seemed like it might be stuffy, pretentious, uninviting, reminiscent of the fancy pants joints in Napa. But we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Made a reservation, paid the tasting fee, and crossed our fingers. We're so glad we did.
Once we got through the construction area, the staff welcomed us warmly with a starter glass while they prepared our table.
Christian (sorry if we spelled that wrong) then took us through a tasting unlike any other we've experienced. It probably goes without saying but the wines were top shelf (we bit the bullet and bought one, we couldn't resist). But our guide was so friendly, so knowledgable, and he really gave us a step by step understanding of what goes into making such beautiful wines. Much more than the average rote description (we've been through more than a few tastings over the years): it was a conversation.
Please thank your staff for us, they really made the experience memorable. Well, that and the wine.
We'll be back!
Settled in beautiful Oliver Checkmate exceeds expectation. Angus took incredible care of us, he was very knowledgable and insightful regarding pairings. We loved all 6 wines, our favourites being The Attack Chardonnay and the Gambit Merlot. It was a special place to end our holiday, thank you very much - highly recommend!
This is one of the very best winery’s in the Okanogan Valley. The tasting fee seems a bit high but is well worth it!! As someone Who does not consider himself a fan of Chardonnay wine, this winery easily makes you convert. Not to mention the stunning reds like Black Rook.
