BlueJay Lake Farm

The owners are friends. I visit when I can, which isn't enough - I live quite a distance away from the farm. For me, I have to add a commute through the province's biggest and busiest city, three waits and then trips on BC Ferries, and it's so nice to finally reach the farm situated on Cortes Island. I've been honoured to meet quite a few WWOOF'ers (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) from different parts of the world who have traveled here to help work the farm for the period of time they're staying here. They passionately contribute with their skills and efforts to numerous tasks daily, necessary, either in the gardens, in the barn, fields, sawmill, kitchen tasks, and cooking and serving meals (the eating of which has been my absolute pleasure to join in - food served fresh from the farm onto the table, surrounded by friends). A lake in the middle of the forest is the most refreshing thing to see, and is used by all to cool down during the hot summer months. Lots of trails to wander around in the forest. Lots of friendly little animals in their pens or in the fenced in fields. If you're as lucky as I was during my last visit, a private little cedar cottage located just above BlueJay Lake. Absolute quiet at night, wake up to a fog shrouded forest, dew covered fields, and the sun just beginning its day peaking out over a distant mountain. I look forward to returning.

I agree with Margaret. I do miss ALL in Blue Jay Lake Farm.
