Just visited the island with some friends, made plans to visit Luckys as we read about all the great reviews, must say Luckys did not disappoint. Service was great, good was delicious and on Mondays pulled pork special was such a great value and tasty. We also received a free birthday chocolate cheese cake! Yum! We definitely come back!
Cute spot with good food, lots of options and portions are big so we ended up taking home enough food for the next day. Wish we knew about the wing challenge before we were getting ready to leave as we may have given it a go.
I went to lucky's today and it was an OK experience. My wife and I ordered a brisket and Montreal smoked beef. The brisket was a tad dry, but had good flavour and a beautiful smoke ring. The Montreal smoked meat tasted a lot like ham. Nothing special there.
For sides we ordered corn bread (good, sweet), pit beans (very good but way too sweet) and Mac and cheese. The real disappointment of the night was the Mac and cheese. It wasn't neither baked nor smoked, which disappointed us for the rest of the food tasted good. $3 for a bowl of Kraft Mac and cheese is a hard pass. Photos show what I'm talking about.
Overall if you are in town this is a place that is worth going. I don't think its a 5-star BBQ experience, but it sure is worth your time and money, as long as you stay clear of the Mac and cheese and the Montreal meet. Grab yourself some brisket and biscuit, or maybe a pilled pork sandwich and you will be much happier.
I'm skeptical of most American-style BBQ joints in Canada but this was pretty good! The BBQ sauce was the perfect level of sweetness, food was good for 2 (had to take home), and the sides were generously portioned. Glad to see the local cidery (Brickers) on tap. Unfortunately we were too full to try the smoked Toblerone cheesecake so we'll be coming back!
