Sunset Motel

If you find yourself in need of a bed in Cache Creek, we highly recommended the Sunset Motel. If your GPS is not cooperating just look for the big sign up on the hill behind, cheekily suggestive of Hollywood.

Outside, a low wall creates a barrier between your vehicle and your unit door, and that exterior space offers a table with two chairs, where you can relax with a beverage, review the day just gone, contemplate tomorrow or just watch all the passing trucks, wondering whether each driver is having a good or a bad day. None of these however is close enough to disturb your good night's sleep

Inside, your room, if not huge, is spotless and solid with clean, attractive fixtures that tell you this establishment values those who choose to spend a night. The bed is super comfy, and if you want regular TV and not all that silly streaming stuff, use the big remote, not the small one. Or just ask the helpful proprietor. We found the more we engaged with him in respectful conversation, the more rewarding the experience became. And keep an eye out for the black cat, cause it is keeping an eye out for you.

We stayed twice in September 2023, first on our way north overland to Haida Gwaii, and again several weeks later on the last night of our return trip home. Sunset Motel is definitely a cut above your average roadside motel, an excellent value.

Very small and cozy room was great for me as a solo traveler. Clean and comfortable. Had all I needed. Fridge. Microwave. Coffee machine. Hot plate. Kitchenette. Toiletries. And 'Dad's Cookies' 🍪 Yum.

The room was nice and clean and we appreciated the attention to detail. Plus the sunset was incredible! We sat out front and enjoyed it. It was perfect for a one evening stay along our road trip.

We were warmly greeted by a very friendly gentleman, who was very informative regarding places that were the best to find a meal and fill up our gas tank.
We found the room to be the best ever in regards to cleanliness and when we asked fora couple extra towels, he promptly delivered!. They were still warm and smelled so fresh! Thankyou! We will gladly here again when driving through to our destination!

This was our 3rd time staying here and we love it! Our room was clean, the lay out was perfect, the amenities were very nice, comfortable seating just outside the door, & the fridge & micro were super appreciated. There’s a great little supermarket just across the street. I highly recommend getting pizza at Anie’s, a 5 minute walk away.
