Your bookstore offers something special to our community! My family is always excited to stop in and look around. Great job supporting my daughters reading addiction.

Popped by with a friend yesterday and my only regret is that I had to focus on holding a conversation instead of carefully combing over every inch of this gorgeous store. Last I checked the space was a franchised book store and I was so shocked and excited to see a cute little indie store has opened up in the space! The decor was sweet (massive boards behind the counter painted like the spines of books!) and the bookish items were lovely. The book selection was INCREDIBLE. If you love mystery/thriller fiction there's two floor to ceiling book cases stocked for you with your next page turners. Bring your teen to pick up some quarantine summer reading because a whole section of the store is devoted to YA reads. Among general/literary fiction there's a good mix of the titles you've seen non-stop in your goodreads feed and some less promoted indie gems. For nonfic, of particular interest to me, was the First Nations shelf. There was also a shelf of coffee table/art books and BC/Vancouver books that I didn't get a chance to scrutinize like I would've liked.

    Titles I bought:
My Art is Killing Me and other poems by Amber Dawn (BC poet, foreword by Doretta Lau - another BC poet, cover artwork done by a BC artist) My copy had a gay little rainbow bookmark in it as part of the display and the cashier either gifted it to me for free or didn't think to remove it when she rang up my order.
Florida by Lauren Groff (my corner of the internet is very hype about this title)
Wow, No Thank You. by Samantha Irby (an incredible writer, very new fun nonfic)
In My Own Moccasins: a Memoir of Resilience by Helen Knott (I'm always looking for stories written from Indigenous women)
A Mind Spread Out on the Ground by Alicia Elliott (I think could be classified as creative nonfic, a highly praised exploration of Indigeneity, intersecting oppressions, marginalisation and inheritance that I am VERY excited to finally read - I was on a really long holds wait list for this with the Vancouver Public Library pre-COVID)

All in all: did I spend too much money on books yesterday? Probably. But I feel really good about it because I got my hands on some titles I've been dreaming about and I got to support a local business. Will I go spend even more money than I should on books? Yes, likely soon. This store has a cool website that allows you to browse their in store selection and place pre-orders on books coming in soon - I've already seen some titles I feel like I HAVE to have.

A note on COVID: the store is roomy and allows a limited # of patrons inside at a time for our safety. There's free hand sanitizer at the till.

Thank you so much for such a speedy handling of my online/pickup order! Super-friendly & happy to help out even with customer service being as limited as it is these days! Appreciate it all and will continue to support my local indie book shop!!

The cutest little bookstore. it's so cozy and I adore what they did with the lights. They really nail customer service here, and they have a great YA section. I also love how they have seating there, so you can cozy up with a book before you buy it. If they don't have the book they can order it in for you. 10/10 recommend.

I am so happy to see that Mission will continue to have its own little bookshop. I popped in last month and was pleased to meet the owner. She clearly has a passion for books and shared some exciting ideas for the future. Cant wait to see this shop grow and become apart of the community.
