I think evening is the best time to visit because of illumination. But be prepared for extra crowds and waiting in line to ride down the hill.
This was amazing and beautiful. Kids all around were having fun going down the slides including my 15 year old. Parent's as well. There's fire's to warm up by easy to navigate. Glad we went.
That was a truly amazing experience that no pictures can do justice. The sheer size of the attraction and the vastness of it's interior was stunning.
With 2 different slides for kids, fire spinning exhibitions and fire pits to warm up with, you couldn't accuse the ice castle of being uninteresting either.
As we walked through some of the areas, we noticed that lights had been embedded in entire walls of ice, creating an Aurora Borealis effect within the ice itself.
Kudos to the team and what must have been near countless hours on their accomplishment this year.
I look forward to attending next year with more of my family.
Great place for families with kids or couples! Look for additional entertainment options. We enjoyed a fire show on a weekend evening, which was an extra fun activity to do. We went last yesterday (Thursday) around 5pm. The Ice Castle was beautiful but not worth the $15 weekday ticket price. It was small and not much to do other than take pictures. I will still be coming back but I hope by then, they'll allow me to use my tripod. I do like taking long exposure night photographs and tripod is a must. I also hope that they open a little bit earlier like maybe 3pm on weekdays or at least Fridays. It becomes crowded after 4pm and it's hard to take portraits. They definitely should also make it bigger and add more stuffs to do to justify the ticket price but it's only the first year so I understand..
Tips:
1) Bundle up! Wear layers of clothing.
2) If you want to take portraits, go when there's still daylight. They don't allow you to use flash and tripod.
3) Buy tickets online, they are much cheaper.
