Quite possibly the best sandwich meat in the city. Even rivalling Millers Meats which is the go to for top shelf meat in Winnipeg.
Aside from the sandwich meats they have the added bonus of bagels and lox (good luck finding better in Winnipeg) and a full menu of delicious food.
Gotta say I'm a little annoyed with myself for not getting here sooner. Very good products (we bought some display case items as well as our lunch). Bit of a knock for kind of slow service and tough fries. Corned beef on my Rueben house made and excellent. Not cheap, but it shouldn't be.
Excellent food! They have a large menu full of comfort food dishes. The staff are friendly and very attentive.
Very nice place for breakfast and brunch. The waitress was very good and fast. The only thing I didn't like was that washrooms are too far from the restaurant.
Update July 30, 2018
We went to Bernstein's today. Same attentive server, and a much improved service and menu. Now most items come with a pickle spear and coleslaw, and the serving size and taste was truly great. We will be back much sooner now!
Thank you to the owners for taking customer feedback seriously!
Dined there Nov.13, 2017, arrived at 5:45pm. It took 20 minutes for the lone server to ask for drinks and give us the menus.
Service was slow and food just okay and overpriced. A full garden salad (lettuce and a trace of tomatoes with a few diced green peppers) is over 5 dollars. The deconstructed bagel and lox (a bagel, cream cheese, lox, tomato slices, onion slices and a few capers) is over 16 bucks.
Maybe they just had a bad night, but for what you pay you would hope for better food and faster service. Around us there were lots of unhappy diners, one had a sandwich re done and others had to go to the counter to ask for their food.
I hope things will improve, it used to be an affordable deli with home cooked food.
Update November 16/17: Jason the deli owner reached out to me and offered an explanation of why service was slow and asked me to correct the salad price (done). It still does not change the experience we had and what we paid for the food.
