It's a step back in time. Visitors here will appreciate the efforts of our ancestors, who put in great efforts for what we have today. Fun staff. Great place to volunteer a bit of your time.
Be sure to come during heritage days when there are live demonstrations including farm equipment, animals, and kids' activities. The working windmill is always cool to go inside, but player piano is a favorite of mine. The restaurant serves traditional food (but the kiosk will serve your hot dog needs). Check out the interpretive center as well.
A beautifully immersive environment, with lots to see and talk about. The buildings are full of antique furnishings and tools and whatnot that really lend an authentic air, and you really are pretty free to move about and explore with very few restrictions (I've found most heritage sites to be very limited in that way). Fascinating for all ages. Expect to spend at least half a day.
It's always fun to go to the museum on July 1st. Lots to see, fun people to talk to, great atmosphere.
I just wish they gave more food for the price you're paying.
Pretty good for a day trip. You may spend 2-3 hours here. Adults may learn some history of the Mennonite community. Little ones will find some domestic animals and antique tractors, they can climb on. Quite good experience overall.
