In spring 2023, on an improvised road trip through beautiful Manitoba, we had an unforgettable stay at the Big Whiteshell Lodge in the middle of Whitesell Provincial Park! This place is beautifully situated right at the Big Whiteshell lake, with amazing views and trails, boat rentals, a pub/shop with an amazing patio overlooking the lake and very friendly staff. Host Garry knows all the places and can give directions to beautiful Castle Rock on the lake and various other spots you can get to with the provided both rental. Trust Garry, as the beauty of these spots will leave you in awe!
The lodge is recently renovated (by Garry himself!), is super modern & clean, comfortable, and well organized. Our cabin had 2 bedroom and with a huge gazebo. The store from the lodge is also extremely convenient, as Garry supplies it with all types of food, including frozen sushi & steak, liquor, snacks, various fishing and camping supplies.
We cannot recommend this place enough. We consider this the highlight of our Manitoba trip. Garry is a wonderful host and the area is beautiful! Must visit!
These guys are friendly and have everything you need. Food from the kitchen is actually good! Rentals are affordable and clean.
Stayed at cabin 1, right near the store. They were very accommodating when we needed anything and we were able to charge anything we needed to the cabin which was super convenient.
Also needed utensils and such when extra guests came by and they didn't hesitate to help.
There's air conditioning in the cabin as well in case the temperature gets a little high.
The only downside to the experience was that the beach nearby isn't kept up at all from.what I can tell. There was a dead fish on the shore and the beach itself is full of rocks and sticks and other natural debris. I don't know if they are supposed to upkeep the beach but any other place I'd been in the past always had it combed (when they were a reasonable size like this one).
Overall a pleasant experience and everybody was nice.
This is a very nice resort/ lodge. There are places for trailers and cabins as well. Fantastic people run the facility. There is also live music every long weekend. Clean, family friendly, safe and very comfortable. The cabins have A/C and many more modern amenities.
I have nothing but praise for the management team. Our visit started off less than fantastic, the cabin wasn't in the best of shape. Gary quickly sorted it out and fixed everything. He had cleaners out immediately and saw to it that we were happy with the rest of our stay. The site is a bit rough, but they are working on updating the facilities from the previous ownership, and the staff are absolutely dedicated to the patrons being satisfied and having a positive experience. Hoping to bring my family back soon.
