First of all, the lodge is under new ownership and we could see that many areas were being improved on. The road has also been worked on. Some of the older reviews mention lack of maintenance and a rude owner but we already saw new roofing and new repairs to cabins and the new owner is very friendly. We won this trip and so I cannot comment on the experience/value factor. A dam regulating the lake also burst and so the water level was also very low, making the main lake the only one accessible. The 3/5 rating is not an accurate representation of what I believe this place will become but rather, a rating of our current experience.
Pros: Friendly and knowledgable staff, great view, fillet station, nice docks, average fishing (fishing likely suffered due to the extremely low water levels, nobody's fault) beautiful and clean lake water, nice rental boats, healthy fish. Good mattresses and clean sheets.
Cons: Our prize included 2 boats but none were available so we had to bring our own. Boat gas for our boat was provided and we are grateful for that. We did receive one boat for one day which we were thankful for. Low lake level which is nobody's fault. Buildings need work but work was being done.
I would like to go back in a year or two and I'm sure it will be a 5/5 by then.
Well let’s just say the new owners are exceptional individuals …
They are very good to deal with and have put a lot of money and effort into the resort the past year…
The cabins are excellent, and the road into the lodge has been fixed up a lot .
We spent 3 days there and only complaint would be I wish I caught more fish :)… but we all had a very good time
Been going there for 3 years now, absolutely love that place, sure u have to bring most of ur own stuff but thats what remote camping is all about, fishing has been great, owners are very accommodating, and very helpful and i just booked again for this year, id pick this place over any high priced city motel
Definitely come back for the great fishing. Nice and remote. I'd give 5 stars but cabins are bit pricey for what you get for $88 per guy per night. They could use a bit more maintenance. Other than that it's a great place for vacation.
Great place for rest and fishing. Rented two times the island. Very nice, quiet and clean place. The service was very good. After strong wind in the night the bod was damaged and the guy come at the morning and replaced to another boat without any questions. Also we received access to the sauna, although it's only those who renting cabins. For sure will return there again and would highly recommended.
