We had Springwood build our home 10 years ago in 2011. The craftmanship has been outstanding. When looking for a builder of course we looked at the cookie cutter builders, but didn't like any of what they offered. We brought Springwood a drawing of what we wanted, and they made up plans. They were slightly more expensive than the cookie cutter builders, but it was because they used better quality items (ICF basement as opposed to regular concrete etc) and WAY more attention to detail. If I had to build a house again, I'd get them in a heartbeat. Great job!
Springwood did a fantastic job on our home, great to work with throughout the project!
Springwood Homes built us a beautiful home!! From our initial meeting with their team to the final walkthrough it was nothing but a pleasure to work with their company.
Erwin, Hank, James, Kyle, Nickolas, and his son were all amazing and are extremely hard workers. The tradesmen were a delight to work with as well.
We are over the moon about our family's new home and we are so glad we chose Springwood over the other companies.
If you ever build a home, we highly recommend Springwood; you will not be disappointed and you will have an amazing forever home!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I decided to go with Springwood after a colleague gave them a good reference.
As one of the few builders willing to tackle a home to lockup stage, and let the customer take on the finishing, I was excited to partner with them on my ~2800 sq ft home with 3 car attached garage. Unlike others, they also are not limited to a small area and happily went outside the city without hesitation. The crew was cordial at every interaction.
All costs and payment schedules were discussed up front and were well aligned with my mortgage draws. The price was very reasonable. Despite delays from the permit office they recouped the time and finished the house in 2.5 months as projected. There was no fear about whether or not trades would be on site every day as Hank expertly juggled varying conditions to ensure all projects stayed on track. They also shared the project schedule with me as requested and were excellent to coordinate access for myself and trades.
The walls were prepared on site in their factory which saved us a LOT of time – they were ready before the basement was even finished! They had the tools to quickly raise the walls and trusses into position in a quick manner. People kept stopping to stare and comment how fast it went up! In the rainy July/August we’ve had this really made a difference and allowed us to start getting mechanicals in early. Windows and doors look very well sealed with care and have not leaked despite much heavy rain this summer.
The framer was OUTSTANDING. He took great attention in his work, called out things to improve, and even offered expertise to overcome challenges with plumbing, joist, and HVAC locations to ensure I maintained the no-bulkheads look I was after, working with the materials I had purchased in advance. He really went the extra mile. If “Love it or List it” had this guy – no one would exhaust their reserve fund! It was wonderful to work with trades who are mindful of each other’s work.
The house was nice and tidy when completed.
The house is beautiful, we brought them a custom plan and they built it. However they are very expensive, yet the quality does not reflect it.
We have had nothing but trouble with the finish work (mudding and painting) They even missed painting a wall completely. And had to re-mud a door opening about 6 times. They left lots of damages behind and made a mess out of the corners and paint lines. Extremely disappointed in that. And i understand that they outsource these contractors the finished product is still Springwoods responsibility. "humans make mistakes" is not a reasonable excuse to not fix the problems we are having. If you pay for a quality home, you should get a quality home.
One of the contractors even told us that the owner is very cheap, which showed in a lot of the contractors they hired. One of the contractors that is related to the owner also had to come back and fix some damage they did, he complained the whole time and told us he shouldn't have to come back, we should just accept the mistakes and move on.
I don't trust them either. The Salesman we dealt with was very forgetful, and his forgetfulness made us have to pay extra in change orders. Including items that were already including in the original plan.
They were supposed to come back and do some other finish work and now they are denying ever agreeing to it..
The only good thing i have to say is about a man named Niklas. he went above and beyond the work he did, including designing us caps for our half walls. So gorgeous, he did everything he could to ensure our house was worth the money we spent, it should he had pride in his work, and his work was beautiful. Huge thank you to him.
If you plan to go with Springwood, ensure to follow every meeting and discussion up with and email to make your life easier and to keep them on track. I cant say whether i recommend or not because who knows what we would have gone through with another builder.
They damaged our custom island, and a drawer. We asked them to come fix it and it now looks even worse, including leaving a accidental screw hole untouched, in the middle of a glass display case and they've ignored our complaint. Once they start a new project they just want to forget about their other customers.
and lets talk about our garden doors in the master bedroom. it wasn't framed in properly, there was a huge difference between the windows on either side of the door, after we argued about it, they offered a measly 500 dollar credit to leave as is. they told us to try and cover it with drapes... yet drapes don't cover the wall spaces between the doors and windows.... and when we told them to move the door over, the contractor complained the whole time saying he shouldn't have to move the door. He wouldn't have if it was measured properly the first time. I am just overall unimpressed with their lack of professionalism. Our experience started off great but has become very difficult and problematic.
