Stella's St James

FINALLY! I've been wanting to pop into this new Stella's location.
Wonderful layout. I was greeted promptly and placed a take out order. A great test, in my opinion, for a Stella's kitchen is the Vegan Mexican. There are A LOT of components in this dish and it's easy to have one or two of these components be neglected and/or served up sub par.
NOT SO TODAY!
Everything was great. Well prepared and seasoned. I look forward to going back and bringing friends with me. Stella's in general offers up an amazing menu providing options for everyone from carnivore to vegan. Staff typically well verse in diet restrictions and working to get your food to your table as you need it to be.
Thanks for opening up a restaurant closer to where I live!

Great service, lovely atmosphere
I had an off day, so I went to this location on my wife’s suggestion as it was a new Stella’s that neither of us had been to. When I arrived I waited for 3-4 minutes as it was a bit busy, but when I was greeted by the front-of-house manager I was greeted warmly with a smile. I was eating solo, so I was shown to a table that would seat just two. I appreciated that they were spacing customers as far apart as possible, even more so than the minimum needed for safe distancing. I was greeted by my server, who struck a nice balance between being attentive but not obtrusive. She provided warm service with a smile—a nice trend for this dining experience. I ordered an American, and had the chorizo hash. The food was timely delivered, and it tasted great, boasting texture, flavour and presentation that pleased me. The washrooms were nice, with private toilet stalls and a wide sink area that is open to the dining area, but hidden behind a wall so that you can’t see it from the tables. This was a great experience, with the quality and flavour of food I’ve come to expect from Stella’s, with stellar service delivered in a lovely atmosphere.

I had read some pretty negative reviews for this new addition to the excellent eating which is Stella's. True- there seems to have been some bumps... new staff, needing to figure out what is hot and what is not for this locale, and all the rest of the difficulties of getting a new restaurant up and running.

My wife and I decided to try this new addition to the Stella's family. They are still a bit uneven, but new location, new staff, new everything takes time to mesh into the flawless flow that the other Stella's have. The food was hot and tasty, the restaurant was clean and well appointed, and Emily (our server) was friendly and attentive. Already this team is better than most restaurants in St James, and I am sure they will get even better.

I hesitate to give 5 stars- as I said, it is not yet as smooth as the other Stella's are. But they will get there very soon, and already are well worth my patronage. Thank you Emily for a wonderful breakfast!

I would have given a 5 star review except for my disappointment with the oatmeal. We have been to this location about 4 times now for breakfast and dinner. Cafe breakfast is always great as are their baked eggs and their fish tacos are amazing! The oatmeal on the other hand tastes like hot raw oats in a bowl. I tried eating them but when our server came by and asked how our meals were I asked if she could throw the bowl in the microwave for a couple of minutes because they tasted raw. However I'm pretty sure they made up a fresh batch which tasted the same. Bottom line if you want creamy steel cut oats I'm pretty sure they need to cook for about 20 to 30 minutes not 10. I've had them at the other locations and they were much better! But I will be back but not for oatmeal. Everything else was excellent! Great staff!
