Peg's Bistro - The Stir Fry House

Former location of Palatal Express. We came here looking for that, but saw it was a different restaurant now. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try it. We were impressed. Service was good. Prices reasonable for what you get. Nice quiet atmosphere. Loved the paintings and murals on the walls. Very well done, and manitoba themed! Facility was nice and clean. Would recommend others to try out Pegs Bistro.

This place is very yummy. I’m satisfied with the gluten-friendly options; I have been here twice now and I haven’t gotten sick lol. They have rice noodles or rice as a base for the stir fry, and both options are good. And they use a clean section if the grill to cook the gluten free food on. I have a gluten sensitivity, so these things are important to me. They have a ton of options for creating your own bowl, or you can choose one of their recipes they have on the board. The layout of the restaurant is like subway for stir fry. It’s a brilliant idea, and there should be more of these types of restaurants around.

Probably my only critique is that when I asked what a sauce tasted like, their only answer was “spicy,” and they couldn’t really describe to me the flavour profile of the sauce otherwise. (Like was it sweet, vinegar-y, earthy, what other flavours did it have going on besides “spicy”?) But this isn’t worth taking a star off or anything because they put a little bit of the sauce onto a fork and let me try it for myself. So clearly they’re willing to work with their customers to find answers, which means a lot!

Oh, and if you are worried about portion sizes? No need to fret. I always have plenty of leftovers.

This place is delicious, has gluten-friendly options, friendly staff and good portions. I’m already a repeat customer and I’ll probably continue to be.

I asked about the vegan options and the staff were very helpful in letting me know which options to choose or avoid. They also made sure to use ingredients from the under-counter storage bins and clean the grill to ensure no cross-contact occurred. Definitely will be coming back. Only thing I could recommend would be labelling the vegan items on the menu and/or website.

I had visited this place for first time and the environment is quite pleasant and attractive. The paintings and you can also do the dining there without missing the games. They have a full setup. Moreover, the taste of food is awesome. The employees here provided me best suggestions according to my taste. Highly recommended.
