Are you looking for a Jewish spiritual experience or adding to your Jewish knowledge (or both), then Winnipeg Chabad is an excellent place to go.
Nowadays, when the TV series Unorthodox is sending ripples through the Jewish community, what I value the most in Chabad is its openness.
It is an orthodox institution, yes, but everybody is welcome and, most importantly, treated as such. What you decide to do is up to you, no pressure whatsoever. During the religious services or the learning events you will find orthodox, not so orthodox and all the range to almost unobservant Jews.
In my case, I am somewhere in the middle. I am much more observant today than what I was some years ago. It was my free choice, as it will be yours should you decide to attend.
It would be hard to find words to adequately describe the high quality of and broad range of topics covered in JLI's programs. Rabbi Shmuly Altein, besides being a kind, caring person, is a dynamic and articulate teacher.

Amidst of the boring, long, tedious Winnipeg winter, The Jewish Learning Institute welcomes us with an inspiring refreshing energy, providing a transformative experience that is at the centre of psychological, spiritual, and social well-being. This is the place to learn, to connect with our community, to deepen our Jewish roots, and to do it in an enjoyable manner. The Jewish Learning Institute at Chabad offers insightful workshops dealing with a variety of engaging topics and each class is designed to stimulate curiosity, exploration, and discussion. Not only The Jewish Learning Institute nurtures my sense of belonging, but also it is the place where I replenish my energy and I bring it home.
Jews have shared their knowledge from the beginning of time. They examine their written and oral history and discussed it’s meaning. Today we continue to enlarge our understanding by studying our sages and sharing our interpretations with each other. Enableing us to understand the deep meaning that can only be uncovered by shared study. It enriches our understanding and enriches our lives.
Chabad enables me to search for and understand a deeper meaning.
Chabad Winnipeg continues to provide a great education in Judaism and spreads Yidishkite . Thank you.
