Was excited to see a sushi restaurant open close to where I live. Tried it yesterday and was really pleased with our experience. We ate in and the service was really good. All the employees were pleasant and courteous. It is a brand new restaurant and such it is nice and clean inside with modest décor.
We ordered 12 assorted rolls from the menu for 6 of us at lunch. The food came out quickly, and I was happy that all came at the same time. It was nicely arranged.
We will definitely eat here another time.
Nice cozy ambience with very friendly staff, its our first time trying out Amai Sushi so the focus of this meal was to determine if this sushi place is worth a second visit and that is by judging the quality of the sushi rice and fish. So we went ahead and ordered out staples: first off the miso soup was good which is always a good indicator of what to expect in a sushi place IMO, the tea was just ok but Im picky with my genmaicha so…..
As for the nigiris, rice to fish ratio was on point, fatty tuna and fatty salmon are superb and a must try! Red snapper was good, unagi was just ok (too sweet) aburi salmon is very good as well. I don’t recommend the Salmon Fire Donut, I would rather opt to go for the Aburi Salmon instead.
The Tempura was good, light and crispy with good tempura sauce. Takoyaki was ok, a bit tiny with a nugget of octopus. Yakisoba was ok, lacking that smoky taste I was craving for. Overall Amai Sushi is a welcomed addition to the sushi scene in Winnipeg and definitely warrants a must try and a second visit (to try some of the rolls and donburis) fish quality is definitely good, the only thing holding me back to give it 5 stars is that I feel it is a bit too expensive.
Great sushi spot in Transcona.
Fresh made options and lunch specials. Lots of free parking and quick service. Great! 👍
Really good sushi! Had the dynamite roll ( which didn't have sauce my only complaint!)
House roll which is delicious!
California roll & smoked salmon roll which were both great! The salmon has a strong smoked taste which might be a bit to strong for some but I really enjoyed it. Also had gyoza which were delicious and very crispy! Will be back
Restaurant is very clean, sleek looking. Food was delicious! Amazing service!
