I ended up eating several times at the Stone Jug during my stay in Newfoundland. Every visit was a “five” rating. Unlike the other pubs and restaurants I ate at in Newfoundland, the Stone Jug offered fresh, from scratch, non-fried foods. All the meals I ordered were excellent. If I had to recommend only three things, it would be:
1) The seafood chowder
2) The fishcakes
3) The Shepard’s pie
The woodwork, stonework, lighting and open kitchen creates an atmosphere like no other restaurant that I have dined in.
The restaurant also has good entertainment in the evenings. They use local music performers.
I would definitely eat at the stone jug again. Go see it for yourself!
Cute coffee shop. Great coffee and bagel sandwiches. Pleasure chatting with the friendly owners. Highly recommended!
Really good food! Took a little long to come out for a salad and beer but it was worth the wait. Beautiful establishment.
Beautiful updated decor that honours its history. It features an open kitchen that draws you in to want to try everything on the menu. Speaking of the menu; while traditional, it also features unique options. The special on my visit was chicken tacos with cucumber kimchi, however I opted for the artisan pizza while watching them being prepared (the veggie pizza was delicious).
The staff was very friendly, although very busy.
Pricing was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the meal.
Will definitely return and encourage you to visit if you ever make it out this way.
