We came for one night and loved it so much we stayed for five nights! The new owners are amazing and take great pride in their campground. We had just finished the Cabot trail and used this campground as a base camp to take in some of the Celtic Colours events in southern Cape Breton. There is a good variety of sites. We stayed on a full service pull through to take advantage of the view. Depending on personal preference, there is a site for everyone. Of course, in peak times, it may be more difficult to get exactly what you want. Some sites are open and spacious while others are smaller and treed to give more privacy. There are areas for tenting closer to the water and cabins for rent.
The campground has wifi, is pet friendly and has a coin-operated washer and dryer at the washrooms. There are also books available. The office includes a small variety of items to buy. There are garbage and recycling bins located throughout the campground. The campground is clean and easy to walk around.
The owners have plans to continue improving the facilities and the sites. They spoke about thinking out some trees to restore the ocean views in some areas. They were very accommodating and even delivered wood one evening when we were down at the fireplace by the water. They have good knowledge of places to see in the area.
We spoke to other campers who were traveling through, and all agreed that this is a wonderful place. The sunsets were amazing.
Thank you to Valerie and Dave!
Hyclass Ocean Campground
A great place, with beach, boat rental, and many possibilities. The owners are extremely friendly. Very clean sanitary facilities. It may be that the sanitary facilities are a little older, but they are still clean and comfortable. Shower 1$ for 3 minutes, which was quite sufficient for me with longer hair.
I thought it was very good that you were immediately pointed out at the reception and could exchange coins. The place is well maintained and you can feel that the owners invest a lot of work and love in it. The WLAN is extremely good, which is rarely found. I can highly recommend the place and enjoyed my stay
We booked this last minute on a long weekend and there was a spot available. Beautiful place to stay. Loved the treed campground. The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and the other campers were very friendly.
Definitely recommend this little gem of a campground. When there was a problem with one of the other campers noisy rap music, the owner dealt with it right away.
We stayed two days at this campground and absolutely loved it!
From the friendly accommodating owners to absolutely gorgeous views, you don’t want to miss this place. We stopped there our way to the Cabot trail and loved it so much that we went there again on our way back :)
Loved that you can rent kayaks, paddle board and paddle boat. It’s a nice extra.
The place was also very clean and well maintained.
Highly recommend and we will be back for sure!
This is a gorgeous spot to camp! The sunsets are amazing. The beach is rocky and lots of oystershells so definitely wear something on your feet but the water is warm and amazing to take a dip in. The couple who run it are amazing hosts. We rented a kayak and paddle board, they probably have the best prices around. We are only sad we were only able to stay one night!
