Nice little hike with navigable trails.
Beautiful hiking spot
A great place to get out for a walk with your family and friends. In the winter time you have huge sheets of ice that you can skate on.
Main trail is stroller friendly.
Side trails are not due to lots of roots but still very easy for kids to traverse (2 yr old hiked it with little help)
Lots of great photo opertunities for family photos, squirrels, chipmunks and birds and beautiful lakes.
Only downside is the parking lot is too small for the weekend crew but other than that its a perfect spot to visit!
I love, love, love the Bird Sanctuary! I'm one who hates walking on the roads of Amherst either because of bad drivers or the fact that all you see is concrete and building when I'd want nature and trees. I've made it around the hiking trails in about 1 hour by myself. Very peaceful and you are always welcomed at the front entrance by squirrels and chickadees. Bring some seed and children to feed nature.
