Pros : Lots of great movie options. Nice theater food. Comfortable seating.
Cons: when I went the other night the bathroom was atrocious. It was after one of the last shows for the evening, so I am not sure if someone hadn't checked them yet but, just gross. Stuff floating in toilets. Water all over the floor. A broken toilet seat. I went through 5-6 stalls before I found one I could use.
My local theater is a small, the games they have are very old & 90% of the time are broken. Compared to this, Scotiabank is amazing. Are there wait lines, yes. My little home theater has these too.
When we start to complain, we need to take a step back.
As an adult, I bring my children to theater as a special treat. There eyes go wide, the games, the movie chooses, the food chooses. It's not a movie, it's an afternoon adventure, through the eyes of a child. Sure you can make it mundane, or you can indulge and take part. A trip to the park, doesn't have to be just a trip to the park, just ask Mary Poppins.
So while going to our local theater is smaller adventure, Scotiabank is a giant adventure, one that can both my autistic child, and I (who suffer from daily severe migraines) can enjoy when they do their special movie viewing with sensory adapted lights and sound.
Great location, crazy busy on Tuesday nights and weekends. Fairly new arcade area which is very nice. Food is pretty expensive. Love collecting Scene points!
Snuck into the popcorn popper at the large counter, I was going to use it as a way to sneak into a movie, but there was constantly someone working, so I couldn't get in unfortunately. However, I did get the satisfaction of being basted in piping hot popcorn butter for 9 hours, which is a win in my books.
5/5 stars, will sneak in again.
It seems everything is sticky in the theatres themselves. The bathrooms, however, are clean and well-stocked, as well as being huge so if a bunch of films get out at once (or you're just shy) there's plenty of space. The staff is amazing 90% of the time, but they're never terrible.
The popcorn is great because it's always cycling, but if you want other foods (like the pretzels) then usually they get stale before you get them. Churros are amazing, they just take a few minutes.
The Scene program is a nice bonus, but they need to stop showing exclusively 3D movies. I don't want to pay a $3 premium for a migraine. I have missed several movies for this reason. Pretty expensive, expect a two person movie date with snacks to be around $50, but it's not a bad time.
