All but great things to say for the people at MacKenzie Solar Engineering! They are professional, friendly and have incredible experience with installation and maintenance of solar systems. They have more experience in the industry than most other solar companies in Nova Scotia and are lead by a registered professional engineer who is more than qualified in all aspects from start to finish.
MacKenzie Solar completed a 10kW solar install at our place during the summer of 2021. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable and completed a high quality install.
We just finished our residential solar project with MacKenzie Solar Engineering, and we could not be happier with their work. We contacted three contractors for quotes, and MacKenzie immediately stood out in that PV system engineering is ALL they do - solar isn't a side-gig they picked up along the way. Our initial inquiries were met with personal communication from the owner-operator/chief engineer, and thorough explanations of how they proceed through a project from start to finish. We were very pleased that they didn't lead by asking for a recent power bill, then plugging it into a quick and flashy PDF promising "THOUSANDS IN SAVINGS!!!" without ever having laid eyes on the property. Instead, their first step was showing up to conduct a thorough on-site assessment - from the trusses down to the disposition of trees around the house - before generating a system proposal tailored to our home and energy needs. They accommodated what was a very difficult installation on a tall, steep (12/12 pitch) standing-seam galvalume roof that would not allow for any envelope penetrations. Using specialized racking clamps to mount the panels themselves, and sourcing extra parts to allow for a cleaner interior installation of the inverter, they really bent over backwards to streamline the overall appearance of the new infrastructure, and it shows in the final product. Progress draws, financing options, rebate allowances, and all other other manner of contractual issues were clearly explained before we signed off on any paperwork, and we were given regular updates throughout the permitting process, which was handled entirely (minus some initial information and signatures from us) by MacKenzie. They were a smash hit with our 2-year old son, and they were safe and courteous on the site. This is a bit of a long review, but solar is a substantial investment, and we really appreciate what this company accomplished. We think other folks around NS will be equally pleased with their professionalism and the quality of their work, and we can't recommend them highly enough!
