(October 8, 2021, 12:10 pm)Last year, during our monthly online meetup for shiftED's Coterie members, we were honoured to hear from guest speaker Cynthia Sweeney of Simply Good Form. Her story of courage offered a deeper understanding of gender identity and helped us to see why it is important to educate ourselves and to become allies.
Cynthia's presentation, "Annus Mirabilis: Inclusion in a pandemic and finding my light at the end of the tunnel," set context for the conversation and offered guidance on how to change the narrative.
I've seen Cynthia offer this presentation a couple of times and have taken away new information each time. She has a way of drawing you into her world with empathy and a gentle persuasion for taking action to do more. Her leadership in this realm sets the bar high, and I say "higher still" because her message needs to be part of our everyday vernacular.
