Great service. Out of season visit. Good prices. Clean.
What a great spot to stop and rest overnight just before crossing the Canso lock. We called ahead and though they were going to close before we got there, they waited for us to arrive and even stayed to let us fill our jerry cans with diesel. They have laundry facilities here and a very nice and clean shower. It was a short walk into town where we ate at A-1 Pizza and had ice cream at the Groovebox. Thank you very much to Jacob and the others for accommodating us and for being so friendly.
This is a beautiful facility for anyone sailing through the area. We stopped in while sailing from Shediac to Halifax, and it was a very convenient port with great facilities. The club house is new, with large and clean bathrooms, and spotless showers.
Shout out to Tia, who was on duty for our weekend stay. She took great care of us, was very friendly and helpful, and gave great advice on places to eat and buy supplies. She even pulled over to give us a drive when she saw us walking on the highway to NAPA when she was off duty. Absolutely amazing person. See you next year Tia!
Small marina with very friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom, showers and laundry area clean and comfortable. Great staging spot coming or going through the Canso Canal Lock. Water and 30amp electric included in the very reasonable trasient rates.
The Strait of Canso Yacht Club was established in 1964. As a member-run facility, the club depends on its members to donate their time and talents to keep the docks in good repair, maintain the clubhouse and even water the flowers.
Members each take about four days throughout the summer months to work a 12 hour shift at the marina. So if you are visiting, you’ll be greeted by a friendly fellow boater and volunteer SCYC member.
The beautiful new Club House is equipped with two computers, Wi-Fi, comfortable sitting areas, clean washrooms, showers and coin laundry facilities. The kitchen has fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, etc. The Club House is licensed with a full bar. The Club House is also a beautiful spot for group functions.
The SCYC is within walking distance (or a very short drive) to banks, grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and liquor store.
Stretch your legs by taking a stroll on the boardwalk along the waterfront.
If you’re visiting on a summer Sunday night, be sure to check out the Granville Green Concert.
