I had a wonderful time at Ross Farm even though we couldnt walk around a few buildings. The interpretors were so friendly. I'll come back again when everything is open and the animals are free to touch ahah. Also, sheep "maa's" were so surprising, imagine a man doing a bad sheep impersonation, that's the sound. The gentleman at the barrel making workshop was the loveliest guy!
Great experience. Family, that has 2 young active boys, loved it. Unfortunately the Covid 19 restrictions dampened the experience a little, but they are there for a reason. Would have loved to spend more time there. Plan to visit again once covid 19 is over because everyone enjoyed the experience.
Had an absolutely fabulous day visiting! Stunning vistas around the property. Incredibly well maintained. Easy to spend hours. So much to learn and explore and nature trails as well. Can't wait to return!
This was our first visit to the Ross Farm Museum in many years.
Despite Covid there were excellent socially distanced opportunities to look around the buildings, see the tools and machinery that were used back in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, enjoy the very well kept livestock, and listen to the staff, all in costume, talk about their particular trade, whether it be making barrels, shoeing oxen and horses, or making the many wooden items from spoons to snowshoes that were routinely used 'back in the day'.
The various staff we talked to were very well informed and willing to put down what they were doing to share their knowledge and stories with us.
The whole farm seems very well cared for. We saw no garbage lying around, no obviously decaying or neglected buildings, no poorly cared for livestock, and the vegetable garden made my wife envious! As she said in the car on the way back "What a well run place".
What a great museum! We were there on a beautiful day. The house, the barns, the cooper, the filing of the cow’s foot, the friendliness of the actors, the willingness to share information, it was all lovely! I was trying to think of a favorite building but they were all great! Lots of walking in between buildings gives you a chance to enjoy the true pioneer setting in nature. The school house was superb and I loved watching the lady in the tool shed braid a straw hat! Everyone was busy doing something. My nephew loved the animals and the amount of time we spent outside! Also loved that everyone was Covid safe -appreciated that!
