With the assistance of Senior Support Services of Southern Ontario we have managed to promote a positive quality of life for my father as he transitions to LTC. Both Mikaela and Spencer have the understanding, skill set, empathy and genuine gift of working with individuals and their families to provide exemplary dementia care. This includes specific personal care we have requested, provision of stimulating activities to engage and keep my father engaged and active, persuasive and responsive dementia approaches using their remarkable communication skills, and providing tips for us as family members to better manage the cognitive and often challenging behavioural changes that come with dementia. As well, Mikaela and Spencer are intuitive to the needs of us as a family, mindful in supporting us to cope and adapt. Their flexibility to adjust to our requested schedule changes, to listen when it gets tough, ability to work respectfully and positively with LTC staff, and to provide us with feedback is simply reassuring. We truly appreciate having them be part of my father’s care team.
Our heartfelt thanks. Wendy L.

Senior Support Services of Southern Ontario worries about the care of your loved one so that you don't have to. It's very refreshing and a relief to know that this type of service exists.
Mikaela and Spencer were tremendously helpful for our family in the winter and spring of 2019.
Our Mother was diagnosed with a rare, terminal cancer at the end of 2018 and our family was struggling to provide her with care at home. We were exhausted from worry and sadness. And instead of spending quality time with my Mom, we had to spend energy on household and care tasks.
By some unbelievable luck found Mikaela and Spencer. Having them come and take care of our Mom was an absolute blessing. Their cheerful and caring manner was so helpful for my Mom, Dad, and me and my sister.
They helped my Mom in so many ways: making healthy and beautifully presented meals, checking that she had fresh drinks and snacks, keeping her company, going through some family photo albums so she could experience some wonderful memories when me and my sister were not there, helping her with some appropriate exercises, turning in her favourite music, etc.
In the later stages of my Mom’s illness, they helped her shower, managed her medications, ensured that her oxygen mask was on, kept her comfortable in bed, and skillfully used a suction machine during coughing episodes. My Mom had a lot of anxiety during the coughing episodes and Mikaela’s calm manner was tremendously helpful for my Mom.
Mikaela and Spencer also supported our family in whichever direction things would go. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the outstanding care Mikaela and Spencer provided to our Mom.
Thank you.
