Dan and Zack are great!!! Anytime I need something addressed, it is done in a timely matter. I have been a tenant for 10+ years.
My experience with Zebra Property Management has been nothing short of what I would like to call a "beyond ideal landlord and tenant relationship", and I am well aware that within the City of Hamilton, the issues arising between landlords and tenants can be numerous and fraught with tension.
By way of illustration, I would like to highlight two examples where I felt like I was a much cared-for and valued tenant under their management:
1) Firstly, when Locke Street was under some pretty severe maintenance a few months ago, the water lines had gone berserk and, as a result, the outdated ice box in my refrigerator unit had also gone haywire and subsequently caused my kitchen floor area to flood with water. I called my landlord (Zack) to help address the issue and he responded right away. Within a week, a brand-spanking new and shiny refrigerator had shown up at my door. Now, I understand it is common practice for landlords to provide their tenants with working appliances and nothing seems to be extraordinary here, but the haste and sense of urgency that Zack had adopted to ensure the timely delivery of my new unit truly speaks to the degree of professionalism and diligence that Zebra shows towards their tenants.
2) Secondly, shortly after I subscribed to the Toronto Star in May to have their newspaper delivered at the front entrance of the building, I quickly became a victim of theft as I noticed my paper was always missing by the time I got down there in the morning. After having voiced my concerns to Zack and Dan regarding this issue, I soon noticed that my paper started appearing behind the locked door of the front entrance. I'm not sure I could find another landlord who would assume a similar level of care and concern for their tenant.
These are just a couple points I wanted to raise. On the few occasions I have met him, Dan has always been kind and courteous to me, and I have never felt intimidated to voice a complaint or even just make an inquiry. In the winter, the grounds surrounding my building have always been cleared of snow and salted for safety. Additionally, the surroundings are usually kept clear of trash, and I have no complaints so far in relation to the interior of the building (our stairwell carpeting just got cleaned and looks far better than it had previously, and I have been informed that we are getting further work done to improve the aesthetics of our building's appearance).
In short, I am thankful to have Zebra Property Management as my landlord, and when I juxatpose my current relationship with them to my previous experience with a former landlord in Hamilton, I need to remind myself how lucky I am now...
