Come after 9 pm, or better yet after 9:30 pm - there will be hardly any skaters, and parking won't be an issue. The parking lot has a decent size, but Jimmy Thompson's pool patrons park there as well. There is no street parking anywhere nearby - I have checked. I should imagine mid-days and weekends are a total zoo, so come skating when the darkness falls.
There are concrete blocks to sit on to change into the skates and rubber mats to make it to the ice. The illumination is good. Hockey is banned (very un-Canadian), but there is not enough room to accommodate a rowdy crowd of hockey players and stumbling first-time skaters.
I discovered this place last year when you had to reserve a time to skate... Was never packed! This year there is no need to reserve a time to skate and still is never crowded like other outdoor rinks... Family oriented!
It was awesome!! Only me and another mom were there. Ice was in good shape.
Great place to skate. Ice, although it was plus temperatures was good. Very even and little to no imperfections in the ice. Organized admittance and friendly staff. One way in and one way out. They have chairs to sit on to tie up skates and rubber mats down to not damage your blades. Only critque I would give is to have seating around the ice so you can stop and take a break. View is great as Tim Hortons Field is in the background. Awesome time for family skating. Would highly recommend.
Fun place to skate. Ice pad with a couple of islands to skate around. Some narrow points so tight if it’s crowded. Pretty protected except from a North wind.
