New restaurant with new owners. My daughter and I ate here for the first time today and we are so very impressed. The food was so delicious and hot. The portions are huge for the price and there is a wonderful variety of dishes. The service was fast and efficient. This place will not disappoint and is good for a small one on one get together or a family dinner. This place has taken over for our weekend Cora's breakfasts. We will be back - I predict - MANY TIMES!!!!!! Congratulations on this awesome new restaurant.
Sometimes you just want things to be simple, straightforward and honest. Interestingly, that doesn't mean you have to compromise. That's the balance that has been achieved at The Brook. You won't find any bizarre attempts to inject the "flavour de jour" here. This restaurant understands what it is and what it is trying to do.
It's an all day breakfast restaurant trying to give it's customers hearty food at a reasonable price. On both those counts it succeeds admirably. While I was there I overheard the expediter admonishing the kitchen for two plates that did not meet his standards of presentation. That is this restaurant in a microcosm. It can't be described as "just" a breakfast place. They clearly respect both the product they are making and the people being served.
Having been at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner I can say that the portions are generous without being ridiculous. The genuine, friendly staff made us feel right at home. At our breakfast they didn't make the mistake of filling the plates with potatoes only to skimp on the more expensive elements. The pancakes are incredibly fluffy and arrived steaming hot.
Nothing languishes on a hotplate here. Food arrives right after it is ready. That doesn't mean you should expect fast food speed records. Real food takes time and it's worth the wait.
At dinner, the steak sandwich was a real winner. The steak was prepared to order (medium) and was tender and juicy and arrived on a very fresh baguette. The Reuben sandwich was slightly hampered by the smallish slices of rye bread, making the portion seem slightly small. I highly recommend the house made Lentil soup however, which was perfectly seasoned and not overly salty.
At the end of the day, this restaurant has a small town feel that suits it's location perfectly. The owners seem committed to providing quality food in generous portions at very reasonable prices. Combine this with a staff who make you feel welcomed and you have the potential for a great restaurant. The real key will be maintaining their quality and consistency.
I highly recommend this restaurant!
Just opened! Great food and great service. My waitress was Taylor and she made sure I was taken care of. My experience was great and I'd say it's worth checking out.
