Popular place to view different kinds of waterfowl
A park amongst the steel centre of Canada in Hamilton Bay. The Trumpet Swan is majestic and in abundance here. Park is very clean, great for walking.
It may not be the nicest or prettiest place but considering what it was before they have done a remarkable job of turning a literal cesspool into a place loaded with wildlife. A lot of garbage in the water but that's the fault of disrespectful people and it's unfortunate location, situated between factories and highway.
This rehabilitated brownfield is one of Hamilton's hidden birdwatching gems. There is a trail throughout the site that provides a pleasant walk, and showcases both the recovering meadow, and the nearby canal. Birdhouses line the trails, and provide great nesting sites for swallows during the warmer months. Ducks often congregate within the canals.
The real treat is the constructed wetland visible from a viewing area near the parking lot. This area attacts a myriad number of migratory birds, including terns, herons and shorebirds. Local birders are often seen with their scopes, observing the diversity of avian life.
