Grandad's Donuts

First time there after hearing rave reviews. Very limited selection of donuts when we went, could have just been that time... What we did have was good!

The best donut store around. Cannot beat the variety, size, taste, and price. Feels like the old school Tim Hortons atmosphere but so much better. The Boston cream with the whipped cream is exceptional as is the signature cherry coconut. I still wish that they made the cherry stick as it was incredible. My kids did miss the varieties with the sprinkles on this trip. Perhaps we just came on the wrong day.

Ok so comparing it to monster donut is tough. Monster is yeast base and unique variety but grand dads is cake & yeast with classic flavors. For one thing grand dads is super cheap in comparison & has some solid quality as well. Their cherry loop is great!

Old school cool. Nothing fancy, nothing you don’t need. Coffee is fresh and on continual brew. Donuts are the classics, plus some interesting unique flavors (Cherry Rings and blueberry fritters are standouts. )
Limited lunch menu - soups and sandwiches- but start with the donuts.
Hamilton institution-featured in the Arkell’s “Peoples Champ” video as well, and there’s always a possibility you’ll bump into some famous and nearly famous faces getting their donut fix while filming in Hamilton...

The freshly baked donuts, friendly staff, and the classic feel instantly makes Grandad’s Donuts a Hamilton Staple. I’ve been coming to Grandad’s for a few years now and all I can say is wow. From my very first experience at this place I knew I would be coming back for years to come. The prices are more than fair, the donuts honestly could not be any fresher, and the overall vibe/classic look is amazing. I love this place.

Tip: They also have an unreal Walnut Crunch donut for all of us who miss when Tim Horton’s used to carry them.
