Chartwell Bayview Retirement Residence

I visit many retirement homes in the region as a healthcare professional, and Chartwell Bayview is a beautiful home with caring staff. There is a community within, with delightful, fun activities and various places for residents to meet, for example the ice cream bar! Important for me, as a pharmacist, is that the nursing and care staff practice to the utmost standards.

“A Home away from Home” seems like such an idealistic cliché, but it is truly an accurate description of our experience. We took advantage of a relaxing “Strawberry Social Open House” invitation to tour their facility, and investigate the programs and accommodations offered, for possible future reference. This proved to be well-timed when a sudden and unfortunate medical incident occurred shortly afterwards. Chartwell Bayview was able to quickly provide respite care, which then led to permanent occupancy. The compassionate and understanding staff worked to make this unexpected life-style change a smooth transition. It was evident that the programs and activities were tailored to the unique interests of the residents. Each weekly schedule included events to look forward to, including live musical entertainment and special themed days. The atmosphere in the residence was “like being at home,” rather than feeling like an institution, especially with the picturesque views of the Bay of Quinte and the quiet courtyard garden. All levels of staff that I encountered were supportive and approachable. Especially with the current Covid restrictions, the staff strive to serve their residents the best they can, while observing all of the regulations to keep them safe. We are truly grateful for Chartwell Bayview Retirement Residence!

The staff at Bayview are amazing. Everyone there is dedicated to keeping my mother happy and healthy. Unfortunately they cannot replace me so Mom would like to move closer to me. Based on our wonderful experience with Bayview we would not even consider a different chain of homes. We look forward to the bug being gone and the move to happen but in the meantime Mom is enjoying the challenge of helping her favorite people at Bayview. Thank you Julie I do not know what we would have done without.

My grandmother recently moved and she enjoys it there. She has her complete independence with the security of 24 hour staff. She enjoys her home cooked meals and the positive social interaction. I feel safe leaving her in Bayveiws' care.

My grandmother has recently moved in and she loves it! She has the safely of walking around the whole building which is perfect for her. She loves the country feel even though it is in town, the trains are a big hit for her as well. This wonderful residence took me in on an emergency respite basis. They moved mountains to process me from the hospital. My room was very well appointed, easy to move around in with my walker, and quite attractive . The meals were excellent and the staff did everything they could to accommodate needs and tastes. All interactions with support staff, management and administration was professional, supportive, caring and very warm and friendly. Also listening to interactions with other residents with varying needs, the same level of respectful, caring support was clearly evident. There are many activities in which you're invited to participate as well as outings, a beautiful sun room with a bay view, and lovely garden for warm days. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone for both short or long term stay for yourself or a loved one.
