The McAlpine House

Superb location for ice climbing! Debbie Double D's and I have stayed her often, and Lija is always an excellent hostess. She really saved us tonight when I skidded Debbie's car off the road and we ended up in the ditch. We hitched a lift back "home" cuz it was -15C outside, and when we told Lija what had happened, she was more than happy to drive us back to the car while the towtruck winched it out. It's warm, dry, and fun - full kitchen available. Plus it's at the Centre of the Universe for snowmobiling!

We had to attend the Bancroft area at the last minute for a family emergency and came upon The McAlpine House. We made a desperate phone call and Leah was so great to deal with. She was able to accommodate us and we rolled in quite late at night to find her awake and waiting for us to arrive. She was compassionate and genuine. We were so relieved to find this oasis so far from home. We will be back, hopefully under better circumstances. Thanks Leah!

Love Love Love this hidden gem. A little piece of history. Leah, the owner, is the nicest host you could meet. The B&B is spotless, filled with old charm and the beds are comfortable as can be. We will certainly be back!
