Charlie and Bonnie are farmers. The first canadian farmers I saw in my life. Their sons are grown and gone to big cities, so they decided to AirBnB their 100+ year old house out. They work the land. Grow veggies, barley, make maple syrup. Farm - 100 acres of beautifull Ontarian land. Charlie has given us a tour around it. Shown us a pond where they skate in winter, his sugar shack, amasing outlook spot on a granite outcrop... We had supper with them - 10 bucks per head. Food was simple, wholesome, all grown on their farm. Green beans, boiled potatoes, cabbage salade, roasted porc. Rhubarb juice was a revelation! We cycled a nearby track that goes where an old railway used to be. We went to do some kayaking in Bon Echo which is only 40 min. drive away. House, we stayed in was old, but well maintained. Several bedrooms with extremely comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, dining room with big table. Family photos and hunting trophies on the walls. Place of Canadian Zen. We loved it there.
