Great conservation area. Our kids love the walk and the different scenery.
Sandy, hilly trail is a cool, free way to spend an hour or two. The best part is the remarkable man-made water channel. Lack of use means sections of the trail can become qickly overgrown. Neat spot for birds.
Wildlife is amazing
Nice little gem! Be prepared for the steep climbs. The view is amazing!
I can't believe I didn't know about this place until fairly recently. It's really incredible. From the forest diversity of plants and trees, to the chorus of bullfrogs as you walk the sandy trail along the river. Many butterfly species and other wildlife. The dunes alone were worth while. Lots of trails and nature to enjoy. Mosquitos were bad, but I wasn't fully prepared for that, as I brought a jacket but was lacking long pants. I'd recommend bug spray for sure, especially this time of year; not sure how much better they are throughout the warmer seasons. The Ausable has a dock for canoes and kayaks, and a somewhat gradual slope leads down to it from the main trail. Worth taking a camera if you're into photography. Great place to take a dog for a walk or get some exercise climbing the trails of the dunes.
