Very kind and efficient front desk staff. Entrance to drive test is in the back, which confused my Google Maps, but there's a huge sign out front, so it's pretty straight forward. I also think John has read the reviews as he was very kind and even mentioned he wasn't really a scary guy. He gave great feedback at the end of the drive test. Come prepared and with plenty of practice for the test and everything will be fine.

Did my G drive test yesterday at Smiths Falls. I have to admit, I read most if not all the reviews a day before my drive test and was flabbergasted and somewhat discouraged because of the notorious John! Knowing my luck all too well, I was certain that I will get none but John, and I kept running scenarios in my head. I'm a newcomer, so I'm not from Smiths Falls, and that got me extra worried.
Long story short, John approached my window, introduced himself, asked a few questions, hopped in the car all the while seeming calm, polite and professional. Off we went for the test, and soon enough returned to the center. I passed, and John congratulated me and shared with me a couple of notes as well as compliments. He left and I was left wondering about the reviews and John.
I don't really know, but I think that if John senses that you are relaxed, confident and aware of everything around you, you should be fine.
A big shout out to the wonderful ladies over there, I still can't get over how incredibly beautiful souls they are. The world definitely needs so many like them.
Oh, and Smiths Falls is beautiful!

Did my G here from Ottawa (in an April blizzard). After reading the reviews, I was initially scared upon seeing that the infamous JOHN was my examiner. However, he was a really nice guy, as driving examiners go.The reviews mentioned that he would fail people for not checking mirrors/windows enough, as he (apparently) didn’t observe the driver enough. So, I decided that I would check every 5 seconds. And it worked, I passed! I thought I would be waiting a while to start the exam, but the examiner was ready to go 5 minutes before the booked time. Otherwise, the route and amount of traffic at this location makes it an easier and less stressful test, compared to the busier streets of Ottawa. Additionally, the lady at the administration desk was the sweetest employee at a DriveTest Location I have ever dealt with, so cheerful, friendly, and polite! Honestly, just do your checks more often than what’s required, stay the speed limit, and look both ways at the train crossing, and the test should go smoothly!
