A unique gem-of-a store.
MORE INFO:
Owners: Wayne and Joy Mann. Originally from Ottawa, and moved to the village of Spencerville, Ontario, in order to raise our children in a more rural environment. Opened Craigy Muir Curiosities in 1981, behind their century old stone home at 8 Water Street, which was built by one of The Spencerville Grist Mill's owners. The building which houses Craigy Muir Curiosities, was part of the Mill's offices. They were moved in the 1920's and attached to the large barn-like sheds at the back of the store. At one time the building was this areas Home Hardware store frequented by the farmers in the area. For that reason the area between the Mill and the store once held barbed wire and other wire fencing on top of wood and concrete supports. Over time the supports collapsed and when we moved here there was nothing left but a field full of chunks of concrete.
And that is where the name Craigy Muir - literally 'rocky meadow' in gaelic - came from. They are all gone now and you will only find lush green lawns and trees.
