Shamyla Makeup & Hair

I am absolutely satisfied with the service. Shamyla was very understanding towards the idea that I had no clue exactly what I wanted. But when the makeup n hair was done it was beyond my expectations. I am just thankful for the care and effort that Shamyla put to make my day perfect. It was the perfect day . I am glad I chose her.

The short story is after having Shamyla do your hair & makeup you will never want anyone BUT HER touching your hair and face again! Which were exactly my words at the end of my session. Hire her now and again!!! She's the real deal and a game changer in her industry for our city.

The long story is I found Shamyla on instagram when I was looking for an artist to assist in my real estate branding photos, I had never met or heard of her before, after going through her instagram page and looking at her work I decided to reach out. She was very responsive and personable. We had our first consultation over video where she asked many insightful consultations and addressed my concerns. I had had three nightmare experiences at separate times of my life with makeup artists at Sephora, at a hair salon and another artist. One of those events was an important work event and the other was my wedding day. I can't even look at my wedding photos anymore without cringing it was that bad.

The way Shamyla asked questions about my past experiences and my vision for my hair and makeup really made me feel like she wanted to see my vision come to life but also she was straightforward in her kindness and realistic about what I presented to her. I loved the attention to detail and my concerns.

She wanted to see my jewelry and my outfit ahead of time which no other makeup artist had ever cared to ask and asked me to send her as many pictures as possible before the date.

Arriving to her studio the day of I was nervous but also excited at the possibility of getting over my fear of being in the chair! Shamyla's studio was clean and beautiful. You feel calm as you enter and all COVID protocols were being followed. She got to work right away. Asking questions as she went along and as I sat there talking to her I felt an immediate sense of ease in conversation and trusted her expertise. I commented that I felt her brushstrokes were strategic and that it almost felt as if she was figuring things out as she went. She responded that this was true because our faces change in the light during the day and that she really studies every part and lets our skin and face dictate what needs to be done for the natural look I was going for. I had never felt so listened to and understood that she really cared about letting our natural beauty shine through unlike other artists I've been to which made it seem like a routine. Shamyla is a true artist. I loved that she said she feels bored in the routine makeup application and really enjoys the adventure of working on new faces and breaking the mold.

Aside from her obvious talent she is a beautiful person inside and out. A strong entrepreneur who I am sure will achieve high levels of success based on her willingness to serve others, positive outlook and passion for excellence and seeing her clients come to life in her chair (proud to say that I am now one of them!)

Shamyla is amazing! If you want to feel like a queen book her for your big day! She is really accommodating and will go above and beyond to make sure you look perfect! Honestly I loved how she did my makeup and would book her again in the future for special occasions. She even did my moms make up and my mama looked gorgeous! Thanks girl, you truly are one talented woman!
