Absolutely legendary. This place is a gem. Had the renowned perch + pickerel + their killer celery bread. There is not enough words in the English vocabulary that describes how much of a classic this establishment is...except try it for yourself!
Wow! Nothing more needs to be said than wow, although I still will. The perch is the way to go! It was recommended to us by the locals we were with and it was worth it. The 'salad' layout prior to the main courses was unique and each dish was amazing. The service was wonderful as well. I cannot wait for an opportunity to come back.
I found the food plentiful and flavourful. Celery bread was wonderful. Nice variety of salads. Perch was nicely lightly breaded. Stick with the fish. My husband's steak was overdone. Veggies were overcooked. Pleasant setting and friendly table service.
Rooms are small, but perfectly sized for us (we were 2 adults one teen) as we were in Port Dover for the beach and the shops. A decent size if you're just there to sleep. Its worth noting though that the showers are small and if you're 6' or taller, shower with caution :) The one issue we DID have with the room #6, was that when we checked in, the bed side tables and desk were very dusty. But we spent a few minutes with some toilet paper and gave the room a quick dusting and it was fine, but generally not something I'd want to do when checking in.
We had a lunch, and a dinner in the Terrace Room (second floor) and the food was fantastic. Really good portions, great pricing. They also had something that I'd never come across before which was a different set of staff for drinks, and another for the food. The system works real well and both sets of drinks and meals we had there came out very fast. The food was very tasty for both meals. We also tried their celery bread which was also amazing, and filling. We didn't eat in Cove Room for lunch or supper (ground floor) but it appears as though its mostly the same menu, but a finer dining experience.
We did have breakfast in the Cove Room though and the food was plentiful and delicious, and again, really reasonable prices.
We would definitely go back again.
We loved the patio! Will definitely go back. The servers were quick and polite. Would be nice to have some more non-fried options on the menu but everything was still delicious. We got the seafood platter and the Caesar salad.
