We had a great experience with Andalusia Speech Therapy! Right from intake to getting us scheduled for an assessment and sessions, the process was very smooth and everything was well-organized. Our son progressed quickly under Barbara's excellent care, and about 6 months later we feel confident that we will be able to help him along at home using the resources that Barbara has shared with us. It's so rewarding to watch your child be able to express themselves more clearly, and to be understood by the rest of the world. We highly recommend Andalusia Speech Therapy!
I cannot say enough kind words about Barbara. I was referred to her following a concussion, as I was having problems with concentration and working memory, as well as having developed a stutter when I got cognitively overwhelmed. I admittedly didn’t know much about speech therapy. To say Barbara was crucial in my healing would be an understatement. She specifically catered our sessions to my individual needs, all while being supportive and kindhearted. Not only did Barbara help with my concussion symptoms, but she helped me feel confident in my abilities again. I am still using the tools she taught me. I would HIGHLY recommend Andalusia Speech Therapy in general, and Barbara in particular. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
COVID means most kids don't get to play with other kids like they would normally be, this means a lot of kids are delayed in their development especially if both parents have to work, this in turn means that the wait list for any speech therapy services is quite long. Since Andalusia just recently opened up, you'll have better luck getting a spot than some other places. We had signed up for multiple waitlists before getting this one...
Overall, I'd say its useful to learn how to teach since the little ones learn very differently and it's not something that's very obvious or you might think of.
We’ve been with another speech centre for 3 years and when we decided to look for a centre closer to home, we found Andalusia. We had an easy transition with the help of Maria and Michelle was assigned to us as my son’s speech therapist. In an instant, my son loved her and he’s always looking for “Michelle time”. She is very focused with our son and will always make sure the we understand and know what she’s doing so we can practice it at home. She always gives homework which is good because it is also a way to make sure that we’re on the right track to my son’s speech improvement.
