I have 2 kids and I have seen 4 different daycare centers beside this. This center is fabulous. Let me give you my facts:
-Kids have to wash hands every time they enter the center and regularly during the day. This turns to a habit for your child very quickly and you see her wanting to wash her hands at home as well.Awesome !
-Every morning all tables get disinfected and every night as well ,with non chemical disinfectants. That goes for toys as well
-At nap time , every day, a cleaner cleans the whole facility and toilets, tables, everything will shine
-The kitchen is amazing. It's big, bright and very clean and an amazing Chef cooks the most nutritious foods. No ketchup, no cold cut, processed meet and all snacks like muffins and cupcakes are in house with low sugar.Lots of fruit and vegetables. My little son knows all the vegetables by name and I can tell he had them at daycare before, even before we had it at home.
-The teachers are amazing. They are educated, respectful, calm but also firm and they teach kids structure they need
I love this place and would recommend it to anyone.
My son enjoys at the daycare. He learns a lot of things from there. The staff are very friendly. I would recommend them.
Children can access which room they would like to play. There is a smooth transition
There is good and bad to this centre. The good it that it is much much bigger than any other I've seen in Ottawa. It has four giant separate rooms for children, a massive outdoor play space with rolling hills, huge sand boxes, tons of mature trees and vegetable gardens. Most of the teachers are kind, caring, and have been there for decades. The food is nutritious, and kid friendly.
The bad is that it is not always as clean as I think is necessary. Not in terms of tidiness, but it terms of dirt and grime. Also, there are a lot of ESL children who have not yet learned english, and will spend hours a day wailing in the background. The teachers are old-school, so they don't nurture as much as I would like. They also don't respect parents wishes - this is something I am sure is common in most centres though. Finally, they do not work on any academics in this school, and as a result many of the children are developmentally behind those at other schools come kindergarten. This is a zero structure school.
