My favorite salon, been coming here since they opened. Carly is the best hairdresser; she listens to you and is not afraid of making suggestions and I'm always happy with my cut and colour. The salon itself is so clean and inviting. They have a wide variety of services and everything I've had done has been great. Some of the services I've enjoyed: colour and cut, Mani/Pedi, eyebrow wax, facials, salt room. It's a bit on the pricey side but worth it. They also have a bunch of local products that make nice gifts as well as the full Eminence collection. And most of their products are either organic or natural or at least on the healthier side i.e. not as many harsh chemicals as other places.

I received the “Spacation” (includes body scrub 30 min massage, 30 min Indian head massage, spa pedicure and 50 mins in their salt room) as a Christmas gift, I had never been the spa before. The interior is clean and beautiful, with that calming spa like feel. I feel it’s best to rate the individual services as well to give a bigger picture of my rating.

Body Scrub 5/5
Was not something I was super excited about when I saw the list of services for the “spacation” but I was pleasantly surprised with the treatment. It left me feeling calm, relaxed and made my skin feel amazing. Plus there was a bonus foot massage which was a huge plus. I would recommend this service.

30 Min. Massage 5/5
This was what I was really looking forward to and Cevyn certainly delivered it was so relaxing and I felt a million times better by the end of the service. I would absolutely recommend this service.

Indian Head Massage 4/5
I was also very much looking forward to this service. However it was not what I expected from the service listing on the website. This technique focuses much more on pressure points and hair growth rather than feeing like a massage. It does include some hair pulling which Cevyn very kindly explained before starting the service, if that’s not for you then I would pick another service. Overall it felt good, just wasn’t exactly what I was expecting.

Spa Pedicure 5/5
Pretty standard pedicure including foot bath, foot scrub, short massage and polish. The best part for me was that it does come with a Paraffin wax which was really the icing on top for me. Left me feeling like I had brand new feet. As well there was some type of oil in the foot bath that was lovely I unfortunately forgot to ask about it. I would recommend this service.

50 Min Salt Room 1/5
This was really my biggest issue with my service and was really why I had to give the overall rating a 4/5 stars. The room is just a tiled room with salt blocks and a dusting of salt on the floor with an electric fire place. The whole experience felt very gimmicky. This was the only service that really didn’t feel spa like to me. It felt very thrown together for something that is so heavily advertised on their website. The one redeeming quality for me was a did bring a book so that made the room somewhat more enjoyable. Unless your really into meditation and want to try something new I would not recommend this service and if this wasn’t included in the service package I got as a gift I would not pay money for this.

Overall the salt room was the main factor for not giving this a 5/5 rating. Additionally I was under the impression from the website service description that the “Spacation” included the 1hr body scrub, 60 mins massage, 30 min Indian head massage as well as the spa pedicure and salt room service. I asked one of the lovely staff and they corrected me saying it was actually 30 mins massage and 30 min head massage and is listed as one 60 min service on the website.

I want to really make clear that the customer service here was fantastic and none of my complaints are issued at staff. All the staff I dealt with with super kind and accommodating and very welcoming. Cevyn was fantastic all day for my back to back appointments.

Overall my main conclusions from my day at Exhalo Kanata are:
Customer service is fantastic 10/10.
Massage and body services are 100% worth it.
Salt room is a waste of money and I believe the spa could put better use to that room with the awesome other services they have available.
It may be worth managements time to revamp the website and make the listings of services more clear. Especially for timings of services and services that clients may not have experienced prior to coming to Exhalo. I hope this review is helpful!
