My Amazing Hearing Aid Experience

Last year following a COVID-related head cold, my hearing changed and my 2 year old hearing aids sounded over-amplified, raucous and uncomfortable. I spend months being tested, trying other brands before upgrading to a newer model and as well as having my Otolaryngologist do further testing. Finally, I sought the help of Rosanne McNamee, Dr. of Audiology, Hearing Freedom, Manotick.

Rosanne reviewed the extensive work already done, listened to my comments on hearing aids already tried and gave me more hearing tests. I was fitted with 2 upgraded Loaner Brands and Remotes for trial purposes. Each Brand came with a new processing chip purported to give a more natural sound quality and I was told how to download the APPs and given written instructions that I found helpful. After using each Brand for several weeks at a time, I was asked for feedback on the 2 issues important to me i) the usefulness of upgraded Brand Remotes without Visual Display and ii) the use of APPs by seniors with lots of hearing loss and little technological ability to use same.

I finally came to a decision as to which Brand hearing aid I found more comfortable and told Rosanne I would like to buy the new updated Model with a chip that was the same Brand as my old ones. She was pleased and then asked if she could do one final test to check for differences in certain levels between the old ones and the new upgraded ones I was about to buy. She took several minutes looking at the audiometer in front of her then turned to me and said with a smile that there were just a few differences between the two same brand Models and those were easily correctable! We were both surprised.

Happily for me, as a result of Rosanne’s persistence and preciseness, I did not have to buy new hearing aids. Regrettably for Rosanne and Hearing Freedom, due to her diligence and work ethic they were out a sale! Rosanne refused my offer to pay for the 7 or 8 consultations saying, “Helping you with your hearing difficulty and having you hear better is all that matters”.

This level of integrity, honesty and professionalism is heartwarming and I would like to share my amazing experience with anyone looking to buy hearing aids for the first or tenth time. In my opinion, Rosanne McNamee and her wonderful Hearing Freedom Team are personable, precise and professional and I would recommend them highly.
