Magnolia did an excellent job finishing our basement including installing a new bathroom and gas fireplace. The project went smoothly and came in on budget which was very impressive given the challenges of the pandemic. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, professional and responsive. Would highly recommend!

In summer of 2020, during a pandemic lull, with a potty training 3 year-old and an 8 month-old, we realized that our lives would be made much easier if we had a powder room on the main level. Our 1920s home in Little Italy had a very small, closet type space at the top of our basement stairs where we tended to shove things, and we'd heard mention when we bought the house in 2016 that we could “sneak a powder room" in there. And so began our hunt to do just that.

We had numerous contractors through to scope out the job and provide estimates. One told us he “didn’t see it” and encouraged us to get other opinions, one had promising plans but never came through with a quote, and a few came through with great ideas/delayed estimates - but Magnolia came through promptly with a competitive quote and a commitment to get it done! Also part of the job was to tear out and replace the basement stairs, open up the wall of the living room, and completely renovate the bathroom on the second level. Shortly after we were committed to getting started Joey showed up with a lasagna - I can’t not mention that. Tasty!

Once the project was underway, the Magnolia team (Karen!) checked in with us regularly to see how we were doing and whether we needed anything. Given that we weren’t living at home throughout (our only bathroom under construction), Joey sent us pictures and video of the demolition - which was awesome to see. We were kept in the loop and consulted on major issues by his contractors while the work was underway. With our old home and the pandemic ramping up, inevitably, challenges and issues arose, and adjustments had to be made. But no matter what, Magnolia always found a way to make it right. When we moved home, the dust had settled, and we had a chance to live in it, we noticed a few issues. Joey heard us out, reviewed the issues with his team, and assured us it would be taken care of - which, of course, it all was.

We are so happy with the end result. I think so long as we live here we'll be thinking of what was there before and what it’s been replaced by. The Magnolia team just completed a large project at our Ottawa home. We completely remodelled our lower level (basement) -- we started from scratch, removing every aspect of a very dated 1960's renovation. Magnolia's team helped us with plans/layout, assessing our needs, sourcing materials, and they completed all the construction, right down tiling and finishing carpentry. We enjoyed being a big part of the interior design process. They installed a complete bathroom, and gave us two lovely bedrooms, two storage areas, a workshop, an exercise area, a kitchenette, and a beautiful family room complete with fireplace. They replaced all of our windows, installed a great vinyl plank floor, and refurbished our stairs. We had a new furnace and AC installed. They provided high-quality doors and trim, and durable, attractive hardware throughout. The transformation is fantastic. The team was competent, attentive to detail, kind, communicative, and talented. I would highly recommend Magnolia for your next project. It feels great to have a family-friend space that we will enjoy for years to come. Also, very important to me, I have begun a relationship with a local company that prides itself on reliability, quality and care. Magnolia will be my go-to for years to come.

What separated them from the rest was Joey's personal approach and the fact that he always communicates with clients, we had some issues on the job as we expected but Joey never passed the buck or made excuses , always fixed any issues that we may have had. He was clear and honest with the fact that they were going to be possibly some issues and if they were he'll be there to honour them by making it right and that's exactly what he did. We are very happy with the final result, we are very happy with the process of getting to our completed renovation and I would definitely recommend them again. It took a large team to finish our entire home and it was done within budget and timing even through this pandemic. I highly recommend this company
