We had an exceptional experience at Montgomery Scotch Lounge (Gladstone) in July 2022. I was playing in a band at this restaurant and the staff were very kind to all the band members, even helping us move and store our empty instrument cases. My wife came to see the show with a “special” guest and they went above and beyond to meet her dietary needs! The service and food were excellent. I really can't thank the restaurant staff enough for how well they treated us and we look forward to going back again. Thank you!
Had an awesome evening here at the Gladstone location. Two different bands played this evening. I'm not much of a scotch person but they have lots of possibilities for other beverages and a very nice light meals menu. The service is excellent especially Eric. Delighful place and I will be back with all my friends.
What a great place
..I have travelled a fair bit and spent much time in Toronto. At one point contemplating a move to Ottawa I always appreciated the people and the pace this venue has hit the nail on the head. Not only does it have a cool vibe but it has an understated elegance. The pre-dinner cocktails (scotch based) were awesome ..there were other options for the non scotch drinkers but if you give it some time there is an inner scotch person in each of us. Delightful meal with outstanding service. Highly recommend
The early seating of the American Thanksgiving event at the new Gladstone location was stellar. The seasonal cocktail-a mix of scotch, pumpkin purée and other goodness-amazing! The chef created an interesting twist on the traditional turkey dinner, and was very receptive to offering a vegetarian option. American football was on TV and the ambiance was inviting enough. The owner stopped by every table to ensure we were all enjoying ourselves. I only wish this event was more effectively published and more Americans participated. We look forward to more special events at this lounge.
Montgomery Scotch Lounge is an under-appreciated hangout spot in the Glebe. This is an ideal spot for having a conversation with friends where you can actually hear what other people are saying. It's also great taking a date who you want to have a real conversation with.
There aren't a lot of mixed-purpose spaces in Ottawa, but this one is done very well. By day, it's Oat Couture. By night, it's Montgomery Scotch Lounge. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed. Everything seems very thoughtful and well crafted. It's very approachable for people who like a chill place to hang out, but also caters to whiskey snobs.
The drinks menu is dominated by whiskeys (obviously), but they do have a small cocktail menu where pretty much every option is excellent. Their whiskey menu is outstanding and rivals any whiskey menu in Ottawa. I personally prefer getting my fancier whiskies from here because the atmosphere is much more relaxed and the space is better designed than the other whiskey bars I've been to around town.
I recommend starting by reading the descriptions of the whiskeys and trying something that you've never had before. They have excellent options that cater to most budgets. If you get tipsy really quickly, switch to one of the low-cost whiskeys or cocktails, because you're not going to notice the difference after a few ;)
Last time we went the staff were new hires, so they were still learning the ropes and service was slower than normal; I trust they've gotten the hang of things since then.
It's a small place, so there is only one washroom. It's clean and well-kept. They even have a video on loop of Brian Cox (Scottish actor) in the washroom teaching you how to pronounce whiskey names properly.
I believe I saw StopGap ramp so this place is wheelchair accessible. Once inside the cashier counter and bar are low and easy to access for customers in wheelchairs ♿
