A true hidden gem in Ottawa. Stunning westward views of the Parliament buildings and the Museum of Canadian History. One of the prettiest places in the city to catch a sunrise or sunset.
A good spot to view the fireworks.
Nice place right on the water. Lots of parking.
Canada's oldest rowing club. Founded in 1867 so that Sir John A. McDonald (Canada's first Prime Minister) and friends could enjoy a legal drink after a hard day of Prime Ministering since alcohol could only be served in private clubs. And probably for rowing too.
My son learned to row here in highschool. Sun, water, and the thrill of precariously navigating at great speed with a team of eight in a club with history, tradition, and location location location. Thanks to the Ottawa Rowing Club for allowing Ottawa highschool students to experience this.
He also got married here. The banquet hall in the original clubhouse is available to the public for rentals. Incomparably beautiful, overlooking the water, startlingly located (nothing this beautiful should be hidden away in the heart of a Canadian city). Just waiting for somebody like you to create an extraordinary occasion! Check it out.
Friendly and welcoming staff! Loved seeing the ergs on the docs and people excite about learning to row. Awesome environment!
