My fiancée and I love walking the boardwalk over the peat bog. The leftovers of history from the thawing of the last ice age.
Great little trail that meanders through a marsh and relatively unique ecosystem. Accessible to just about anyone who is ambulatory, regardless of age.
Trails are well marked, with maps at trail heads, and are passable in every season. Washrooms and covered picnic tables are available near the main parking lot.
Only deducting one star because these trails are often very busy because they are so accessible and close to Ottawa.
A bog on the doorstep of Canada's Capital. Several trails including a boardwalk that brings you in the bog. Dusk and dawn are a goodtime to visit to observe birds and wildlife. A must if you love nature.
This is an easy walk on a boardwalk through the bog, where birds and small wild life are easily seen. Information boards are located along the walk providing interesting details about the various geographic elements of the area. A nice diversion if you are looking for something to do.
Great autumn day! Full of blues, reds, yellows, and a feeling of the changing season. The bog circuit is a thirty minute walk. If you remember birdseed, the chickadees will gladly relieve you of it. It's fairly safe to walk the boardwalk, but not wheelchair accessible. There is a nice pagoda that gives shelter if you want a picnic. Two toilets are on site. No dogs permitted.
