COVID-19 Testing Center

OH WOW! There are things you need to know!

Most importantly: Inhale before the test! The tendancy is to exhale and I was unable to breathe during the 15 second COVID test.

Communication could be improved:
1. Speaking with the staff they say there is almost NO POINT GETTING TESTED immidiately after contact with a COVID positive person - most accurate test results come after 5 days. In the mean time, self isolate. They say they want everyone to know this but have not even put up a sign.

2. Wait times are poorly articulated. 90 minutes once you get into the building (no food or water allowed at that point), by the time the line reaches the back of the building (which is apparently ALL THE TIME) it's 3 hours, some of which is in full sunlight. They say the best time is before they open the doors at 0845 am.

3. Families with children have a separate line, that goes faster. When you see the kids in tears for pain and frustration you'll get it. Don't be a complainer.

Super efficient, friendly, really put you at ease. A well oiled machine. Whole process took just a little less than 3 hours, which is what I was expecting. The swab was of course unpleasant but was very quick. Kudos and a very big thank you to all.

I visited the center on Saturday July 18th. I arrived just before opening and already there were a huge lineup but everything went very smoothly. It took little less than 2 hours. Let me start by saying I was extremely impressed by the whole organization and all the friendly and professional staff which made the process less stressful. I want to specifically say a big thank you to nurse Jacqueline who took my medical information. She went above her duty to listen and share much needed information for my daughter. Your compassion and dedication is much appreciated...you are a pearl thank you Jacqueline! Thanks to all the workers at the center...you are the real heroes! It makes me proud to live in Ottawa.
