Poseidon Charters

I've been on two trips with the company (Croatia, Greece) and can't say enough about the experience. Prior to the trip I had never been on a sailboat before, let along a 14-day sailing adventure, so don't let a lack of experience or comfort impact your decision about this kind of vacation.

There are so many great things to say, from the Captain and crew on down to the fellow passengers you meet, but here are some key benefits of this type of travel:

- Access to less crowded, intimate, local (etc) places (private beach / swim locations)
- Avoid the time / expense of renting a car, getting directions, etc.
- No need to organize activities or research what to see and do (also the captain is a local expert)
- No need to spend time / money booking expensive hotels during peak season
- Not beholden to ferry / bus schedules
- You have a prime hotel location on every island - your boat!
- Come and go as you please (no rush back on the boat by 3pm like a cruise ship, curfews, etc).
- Hang out on your own when you want, with the group when you want...
- the Captain knows all the best spots to eat and takes care of all the reservations.

Its basically a hassle-free vacation, which is impossible to replicate during peak season in Europe.

And one thing that is overlooked is that simply travelling from one island to the other on a YACHT is simply incredible in and of itself. The 'commute' is an absolute highlight of the trip.

It was the best New Year celebration for all of us, a group of nine longtime friends who decided to accomplish our dream vacation. The trip in general was very well set. Thank you Poseidon Charters, especially Steve Parry, who organized our trip so well that we had no problems during the 9 days of the charter sail between the beautiful islands. The itinerary was perfect. It did not require any corrections. It helped us to relax and enjoy the absolutely amazing nature of the French Polynesia. If you need someone who will give you good advice, organize a trip and provide you a real relaxed vacation we do recommend Poseidon Charters.

We just returned from an amazing 7-day sailing cruise to the French Polynesia that we booked through Poseidon Charters. The boat was incredibly nice and very comfortable, with each couple having their own room/bathroom. The food that the crew prepared was delicious and they were very accommodating of cooking vegetarian for my wife and I. We got along with all the other guests and had a lot of fun just hanging out with everyone. And everything worked perfectly with the airport transfers and all the excursions. All in all, it was a wonderful trip and it didn't hurt that the weather was warm and sunny the whole week!

We just returned from our 2 week Greek sailing trip. The boat was spacious with our own private bathroom and the captain very knowledgeable, we saw things and experienced things that we would never do on our own. Every night we had a fabulous dinner that the captain always arranged. The Islands were all a little different each stunningly beautiful and we saw something new everyday.
The weather was always sunny and hot which made the swim stops a must.
The trip was very well organized starting with the reservations captain Steve and Sharon made. All our questions were looked after including hotel bookings and car rentals.
Greece will always hold a special place in my heart and I can't wait to do our next sailing adventure in French Polynesia with Poseidon Charters.

We have now done two Greek charters with Poseidon - both were amazing wonderful experiences. The first was a family vacation with our kids and we had so much fun we decided to come back a second time with a group of friends.

A very nice aspect of the crewed charter experience is that if you like to sail, they encourage that as you can take the helm, set sails, and trim lines. On the other hand, if you prefer to relax you can let the skipper take over and go read a book, take photos, or socialize with friends. It is also so nice to not have to worry about provisioning the boat or cooking. The food was great and we learned a lot of great tips about Greek cuisine. Of course, dinners are all in in ports and Poseidon is very well connected and gets you tables at the best places.

The flotilla is the other nice aspect of the trip. We made great friends on the other boats and it really enhanced the whole experience.

If you are bare boating, and not experienced in sailing the Mediterranean, I would highly recommend going with the flotilla. Each morning before setting sail they have a skipper’s briefing and the experienced skippers give advice on routes and the days itinerary (it is very nice to have this local knowledge). Also, the big boats get into port first and the experienced Poseidon skippers are waiting for the bare boat skippers with dock space set aside and assistance with the sometimes hectic and intimidating med mooring process.

Overall, it was a great and unique way to see the Greek islands and do some wonderful sailing. We hope to do the French Polynesian Islands with them next!
