Worth every penny! Incredible place! Certainly hoping to be back again soon.
We had a very specific vision for our intimate winter wedding: a cozy yet luxurious chalet with huge triangular windows that overlooked a winter wonderland. Oh, and it also had to comfortably accommodate 11 of us.
I had all but almost given up on this dream (after fruitlessly searching airbnb and luxury cottage websites for weeks…Most were unaffordable or “accommodated 11” with the caveat of a pull-out couch) thankfully my soon-to-be husband found Lulu's website. After excitedly touring the cottage online (through the "3D-Cottage Walk-Thru”) we contacted the owner, Steven, directly and arranged to drive up in the summer to "preview" the space in-person.
The minute that we opened the front door to Lulu's, we knew we had found the wedding place of our dreams: the 23' cathedral ceilings and arched windows evoked a sense of spirituality and framed the magnificent view, while the White Pine interior and massive stone fire place brought the splendour of nature indoors. It was the perfect place to hold our ceremony.
I was already won over, but we continued our tour: the magnificent kitchen (soap stone countertops! 2 fridges! Industrial gas-burning stove!); the solid dining table was large enough to seat everyone; there were not 1, but 2 living rooms; a rec room with a pool table; and with a record number of Queen sized-beds (and a King for us) we knew our families would be well-rested.
The owner, Stephen, was incredibly helpful, and answered all our questions about potential winter activities and caterers and appliances/amenities. We were provided with a helpful guide with everything from wifi passwords to garbage disposal instructions.
When winter arrived, we drove up in a caravan with all of our groceries and other supplies, it was a straight-shot up the 400 highway. All the roads were ploughed, including the cottage road. There had been a snowstorm the night before, so the cottage road and driveway were ploughed and sanded for us again. The cottage was perfectly warmed for us when we arrived.
When we got married, we gathered in a circle in front of those beautiful windows. Someone remarked that the scene outside was like a snow globe, and it was: soft large flakes of snow quietly floated down as we read our vows. Later, local caterer, Chef Aquilla of Dream Cuisine, cooked up a feast for us, and presented it beautifully on that huge dining table.
The next couple of days were heaven: we snowshoed on the lake (snowshoes provided by Lulu’s!), we watched movies, we relaxed, we enjoyed the massive tubs, we played pool. It was a perfect way for our families to spend some quality time together, and yet have enough space to relax alone as well.
Lulu’s will always have a special place in all of our hearts. We hope to return one day to experience another season…Thank you to Steven and the Lulu’s team for creating such a beautiful space for memories to be made.
I really enjoyed the wedding reception I attended here. Plenty of room to mingle inside and out. A huge kitchen. Great views. Despite a major storm knocking out the power the festivities continued as there is a backup generator hard wired to supply the house.
Wow! Was at a wedding here for some great friends. This place it gorgeous! Beautiful shoreline and lake. The house is unreal. Huge and beautiful inside. Kitchen was the highlight for sure!
Beautiful getaway.
