We didn’t know Katie or anyone else she had worked with before we hired her for our wedding. We just liked the pictures on her website and figured that a professor at Durham College would probably be a solid choice. That being said, we were quick to book Katie as soon as we got the chance to know her over the phone and it truly ended up being one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning. For two people who aren’t super comfortable in front of the camera, we mainly wanted someone who we could feel relaxed around and we couldn’t have found a better photographer for that. Katie was not only professional, but she was an absolute blast to have around. You spend a lot of time with your photographer on your wedding day and Katie was accommodating, funny, and super easy to hang out with (which shows in our photos). By the end of the night, we were (not so secretly) hoping she liked us as much as we liked her.

I will also say, we love candid photos and Katie really seemed to excel at capturing the real moments as much as the posed ones (she caught a pretty epic dance lift from my sister-in-law and her husband that was completely spur of the moment). And when it came to the posed photos, we didn’t have a ton of ideas, so it was nice to have Katie there guiding us. For the few photos we were hoping for, including a tricky one with a dog, she was super accommodating. From helping us plan out our wedding day timeline at the beginning of our planning process, to taking the time to make sure she had captured everything we wanted at the end of the night we were so happy with the entire experience. Most importantly, in the end the photos turned out amazing. She has a great perspective and was able to capture so many images that turned out way beyond our expectations. Long story short, hire Katie for your event. 10/10 would recommend.

I don't event know where to begin. The second we saw Katie's photos we knew she was the one. We booked Katie without seeing another photographer and it was the #1 best decision we made planning our wedding. Just when we thought she could not surpass our expectations and hopes and dreams for a wedding photographer any further she continued to surprise and delight with her professionalism, creativity, thoughtfulness, and knowledge. We talked to Katie more than any other wedding vendor throughout the process and she really knows how to make you feel comfortable about the process and the day. Katie actually makes taking photos fun and working with her is just magical when you get to see the story she tells though the photos. She gives just the right direction to make all the difference.
