Great place to buy supplies or rent kevlar or fibreglass canoes from! Two brothers that run the place are great help!
If you just want a canoe this place will be ok
We did not find the staff friendly
Rented canoes and parking permits here while camping at Buzzard Lake. Beautiful spot. Staff were nice, one was a little prickly, but that's likely as a result of dealing with people who took poor care of the canoes, so I get that. The younger guy was nothing but pleasant.
Cheapest canoes are sturdy, but incredibly heavy during the portage, even for two of us and I'm a big guy. Would consider the lighter, more expensive canoes next time.
Would definitely rent from here again. Amazing lakes and camping! Enjoy.
We rented a kevlar canoe here for a weekend portage trip to Cox Lake. They are pretty busy during the weekends and we had difficulty reaching them on the phone to make reservations but we left a message and they called us back a few days later. We were able to speak to them and reserve our canoe the Monday before our trip. We suggest you try to reserve your canoes a few weeks earlier to avoid any disappointments.
When we arrived, everything went as planned. We got our canoe and equipment, plus a brief run-down on how to care for the kevlar.
We saw a few of the negative reviews before booking and were a bit nervous. But overall it was a pleasant experience!
We're relatively experienced canoeists, and didn't have a lot of questions. We just needed a canoe, had no issues and enjoyed our trip. The owners aren't super friendly/bubbly, but they were not rude to us in anyway. We went on a Thursday- Friday, so it also wasn't as busy either.
They also have a small storefront that sells firewood, freeze dried meals and other essentials you might have forgotten. Also note that the bailer kit is only for emergencies, do not use the rope inside for a clothesline or you will have to pay for the whole kit (they do brief you on this detail).
The launch is right next to the PP parking lot (dont forget to print and display your permit). It is a nice small beach area which is super easy to launch from!
